Santa Ana, Costa Rica

Countryside of Santa Ana

There are many beautiful suburbs of San Jose in which you can choose to live. Among the most popular are Santa Ana, Escazu, Ciudad Colon, and Belen. These are all located on the West side of the city, just 10–15 minutes away from the center of San Jose, and just 20 minutes from the Juan Santamaria Internationl Airport. With the new highway connecting the city to the beach, you can now make it to the closest beach in an hour from suburbs like Santa Ana.

Escazu is also referred to as the Hollywood of Costa Rica. You can find properties as low as $100,00 and up into the multi-million dollars. Its beautiful rolling green hills, spectacular views, comfortable weather, and commodities of life are a few of the reasons that make this area so desirable. Due to its increasing growth and development, you can now find Costa Rica’s best state of the art hospital (Cima), the most renown international school (Country Day School), the largest mall in the country (Multiplaza), and the nicest country club in Central America (Costa Rica Country Club). You will also find many restaurants, shopping, banks, and commercial and office centers. There’s even a new 3D Imax theater! On the residential side, you can find many condominiums whether it be in tower or side by side. There are many beautiful individual private residences as well. The diversity of real estate offers something for everyone here.

Santa Ana is just 7 minutes away from Escazu on the highway. It is much more spread out, is situated in the valley, and known for its flat land. At a lower elevation, Santa Ana is a bit warmer than Escazu. Here you will find a business Mecca with enormous commercial and office parks and centers. You can also find some of the most desired residential communities like Bosques de Lindora, Valle del Sol (with its private golf course), and the prestigious Villa Real where homes start at $500,000 and up.

Ciudad Colon and Belen are each about 10 minutes in different directions from Santa Ana. These areas are farther from the hustle and bustle, and you can find better deals in real estate. Ciudad Colon is a small community with an old town charm. A landmark of this area is the University of Peace which provides education to some of the most international students in the world. Belen connects Santa Ana to Alajuela and Heredia. There are parts that are more residential, but you will also find sectors dedicated to industrial real estate.

There are many real estate opportunities in the central valley of Costa Rica. If you are looking for an investment opportunity, there is a great rental market in residential or commercial property. If you are seeking a safe residence close to the comforts, amenities, social and commercial aspects of life, this might be the right area for you.
