Ciudad Colón

Ciudad Colon ParkCiudad Colón is the most western suburb of San José, located at 25 minutes.

Ciudad Colon is a small typical Costa Rican town close to nature and surrounded by mountains. The proximity to the picturesque town of Puriscal with its breathtaking mountain views attract families and people looking for outdoor activities such as horse riding, biking, running and hiking.

Although Ciudad Colon is not as developed as the neighbouring towns of Santa Ana and Escazu, it boasts one major supermarket, several small stores, banks, pharmacies and local restaurants much cheaper than the upscale selection that can be found in Santa Ana, easily accessible from Ciudad Colon.

Most of the 200 students from the nearby United Nations University for Peace reside in Ciudad Colon giving it a very distinctive and cosmopolitan feel.

The Ciudad Colon community is small yet fast growing due to its lower cost of living and country feel with easy access to shopping, dining and entertainment. Ciudad Colon is also on the new highway to Orotina reducing the access to the Pacific Beaches of Quepos/Manuel Antonio and Jaco which is one hour drive away.

Because of its easy access to the Pacific Beaches, it is very likely that Ciudad Colon will develop fast with condominiums and gated communities. Ciudad Colon is definitely a town to consider if you are looking to make an investment in the Central Valley.
